L ’ D E L T A
L’delta is my music project, here I mix and produce music for dance, film and theatre. Oscillating between organic and inorganic sounds, I recreate the world of dreams making reference to the Delta waves generated in the brain during deep sleep.
BEGINNINGS:
L’delta was born in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This tough event did not bring me professional opportunities as a dancer or as a choreographer, therefore I approached music as a way out to learn something different and to process the uncertainties and frustrations during those difficult times. I begun a course in Dj and electronic music production in Amsterdam, an incredible opportunity that allowed me to deeply understand and support my choreographic ethos.
The beginning was a bit of a whirlwind because I waned to learn how to make Binaural beats, hence the title L’delta with the aim of raising awareness about the role that music plays in shaping people's mental states and mental well-being however, I ended up infusing thunders of hypnotic, very dance and high energy beats at the end of every attempted exploration. Hahaha! I was obviously dancing while composing on my DAW, so no chance for more than 2 minutes of peaceful relaxing music.
Every project in L’delta sets a dialogue between restlessness, disorder and hypnotism. The compositions and mixes vary between cinematic, techno, ambient, drum & bass, experimental and others genres to construct unique sound spaces in connection to traditional, folk and classical music.
The first musical collaborations have been created under the name of Henry Rodríguez with Chicago-based contemporary dance theatre ensemble Hedwig Dances, for the creation of “KAOS”, by Cuban born choreographer Rigo Saura and also additions for the dance performance “Corpus Criolla" by Curaçao born choreographer Faizah Grootens. Most recent original scores were made for the dance pieces MAJOS, Pulling Scales, Lost In Parameterization, Dador, CASA and Carnem Exilui.
“As L’delta delves into the music practice with a progressive and radical manner, each creation aims to take people further in a journey into sound and movement free of boundaries.”
