'Lost in Parameterization' is a short dance film inspired by the novel “Fabián and chaos” by Cuban born author Pedro Juan Gutiérrez. While the novel tells the story of a strange friendship between Fabián and Pedro Juan during the decade of 1960, the video looks through Fabián’s metamorphosis to death inside an effervescent and vertiginous Cuba. As it turns around the topic of identity, it intends to investigate the body and the psyche in its vulnerable possibilities, such as depersonalisation, experienced by people during “The Gray Quinquennium” in the island, by which they felt strange to themselves, their body, their sexuality, their ideals and the environment that surrounded them. This work is the latest created under the notion of ‘The perversion of order and the collective subconscious’, a phenomenon in which Henry defines and summarises recurring themes in his works and where he creates a space for personal and collective reflection about the past and the world of today. Lost in Parameterization has been premiered and commissioned by Swindon Dance during Digital 4 Commission 2022.
